You rarely wear the jewelry or watches and would like to do something with them. At Golden Hour Vintage, you can have your jewelry and watches appraised for sale or trade-in. We always assist you in a professional and personal manner in a secure environment. You can park in our spacious, secure area in Drachten, so you don't have to walk on the street with your valuables. We are easily accessible from all over Friesland and Groningen due to our convenient location near the A7 and the Waldwei, and within walking distance of the Transferium Oost bus station. Feel free to visit us for a reliable and completely non-binding appraisal of your valuable items.

How does the appraisal process work?

Appointments can be scheduled at our Drachten branch from Monday to Friday between 9 AM and 5 PM. The duration of the appointment will be coordinated with you, depending on the number of items. On average, an appointment lasts 1 hour.

Valuation

During your visit to Drachten, the items will be examined in your presence, and we will determine the gold content and value based on the current gold price. We will always inform you of the current gold price per carat at that moment. You will then receive a transparent and non-binding proposal. This way, you know exactly what to expect when selling your gold. The proposal is split into a sales value or trade-in value. The sales value is the amount you receive if you sell the items. It is also possible to trade in your jewelry for items from our collection; in this case, we can generally offer a slightly higher trade-in value than if you were to sell it. With this option, you choose to purchase an item from our collection or receive a voucher. This voucher is valid indefinitely and can be used online or in the showroom.

If you want to sell the items for their sales value, we will, of course, arrange the payment immediately! 

Selling or trading in watches

Do you have watches you would like to sell or trade in? You can also come to us for this! We collaborate with SeriousWatches and share our location and showroom. This also makes it possible to sell your watches to these watch experts with over 15 years of experience!

Ik heb bij Golden Hour vintage een hele mooie ring gekocht en deze voldeed absoluut aan de verwachting. De service is geweldig, ik heb de ring qua maat laten aanpassen en dit gehele proces ging vlekkeloos en soepel. Everything we offer for sale on our website is in stock. Therefore, we can guarantee fast shipping. If a piece of jewelry is sold out, it will be clearly displayed. Our collection consists of vintage and pre-loved items, so only one of each is available. However, there's a chance a similar piece will be added to the collection in the future!

If an item is returned, it will be restocked. Keep an eye on the website.

Materials

Our vintage and pre-loved collection mainly consists of gold jewellery and features beautiful (semi) precious stones. Our jewellery can last for generations!

Please note: antique jewellery may be gold-filled. This will always be stated. Gold-filled jewellery can discolour over time. Take good care of these historical pieces and you can enjoy them for a long time to come.

Gold jewellery is always made from a mix of pure gold and other materials such as copper and silver. Pure gold (24 carat) is too soft to make jewellery for daily use. The number of carats indicates the gold content in a piece of jewellery. The higher the carat, the more pure gold a piece of jewellery contains. Below you will find the differences:

8 carat: 333/1000 or 33.3% gold

9 carat: 375/1000 or 37.5% gold

14 carat: 585/1000 or 58.5% gold

18 carat: 750/1000 or 75% gold

The gold content sometimes says something about the origin of the jewellery. For example, in Germany you will see jewellery made of 8 carat, in England 9 carat, in the Netherlands 14 carat, and in France 18 carat.

Most of our jewellery is hallmarked. Sometimes a hallmark is no longer clearly visible because the jewellery has been worn. We will always perform a gold test using a touchstone and assay solution. We also test the hardness of stones in the jewellery to determine the type. This way, you can always be sure that you are buying a quality product!

Barse jewellery is known for its colourful gemstones and solid materials such as silver, bronze, and copper. All Barse jewellery is handmade using metal casting or the lost wax method.

Vintage & Antiques

Our Golden Hour Vintage jewelry is vintage and antique, and as such, may show signs of wear. Please be aware that your piece of jewelry is not new and may show imperfections such as small scratches, chips, and blemishes. Any 'defects' that could affect the use or quality of an item will always be mentioned. All jewelry is always checked and cleaned before being added to the collection. Buying an antique or vintage piece of jewelry is essentially buying a piece of wearable history. An antique or vintage item will be more fragile than its modern counterpart. Wearing an antique or vintage piece of jewelry is a unique experience, but should be done with care and attention.

Please note: a (vintage) piece of jewelry is an object that is used and may always experience something and requires maintenance. If a piece of jewelry is worn daily, it is possible for a setting to loosen and/or a stone to become dislodged. Outside the warranty period, we do not offer solutions/compensation/repairs for such defects. Please keep this in mind when making your purchase!

Warranty

We offer a 14-day warranty from the date of purchase. The warranty expires if a piece of jewelry has been altered or repaired by an outside jeweler or goldsmith.

If there's anything wrong with your jewelry within 14 days of purchase, please email us immediately with a detailed description to info@goldenhourvintage.nl. We'll assess your situation as quickly as possible.

Under warranty, the first priority is always repair. If this isn't possible or the costs are disproportionate, we'll look into a replacement product or you'll receive a credit note.

Please note: a (vintage) piece of jewelry is a practical object that can always be damaged and requires maintenance. When a piece of jewelry is worn daily, a setting may become loose and/or a stone may become detached. Outside of the warranty period, we do not offer any service for such defects. solution/compensation/repairs. Please keep this in mind when making your purchase!

Excluded from warranty:

- When the jewelry has been repaired or adjusted by another party after purchase.

- If the (ring) size of the jewelry turns out to be incorrect after 14 days.

- Damage caused by wearing the jewelry (normal, unavoidable wear and tear)

- Wear and tear caused by wearing jewelry in bed.

- Damage due to falling, impact, breakage, getting stuck, bent ring, etc.

- Loss of stone(s). The setting has been checked, but if the ring is bent, an unfortunate bump to the setting, or a bent prong can cause the stone to fall out of the setting.

- Scratches or cracks on the stone occur after sale.

- Theft or loss of the jewelry.

- Loss of pousettes (backs of studs)

- Discoloration of the jewelry due to chemical products, silver dip, makeup, perfume, hairspray, cleaning agents, skin acid, salt water, chlorine, etc.

What should I look out for when buying antique and vintage jewelry?

First of all, buying an antique or vintage piece of jewelry is essentially buying a piece of wearable history. An antique or vintage item will likely be more fragile than its modern counterpart. Wearing antique or vintage jewelry is a unique experience, but it must be done with care and attention.

In the past, jewelry was not worn day and night as we do today. Therefore, most antique jewelry is not suitable for wearing day and night. A good rule of thumb when wearing antique jewelry is that it is the last item you put on when you leave the house, and the first thing you take off.

How do you determine the gold content if there are no hallmarks on it?

Sometimes gold hallmarks are no longer clearly visible on antique and vintage jewelry; this can be due to wear from frequently putting a ring on and taking it off, or possibly because it was polished at some point. All jewelry is tested for gold content, initially by our supplier (with over 40 years of experience), and subsequently by us as well. This is done using acid testing. This is done on a touchstone where a small amount of gold from the ring is applied, along with various acids that indicate the purity.

If you place your order Monday through Friday before 3:00 PM, it will be shipped the same day. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout; shipping is free within the Netherlands for orders of €175 or more.

Is your online purchase not quite what you expected? You have a 14-day "cooling-off period" after receiving the jewelry (in accordance with distance selling regulations). This cooling-off period does not apply to showroom purchases, as these are not distance sales and you were able to inspect the jewelry in person. The jewelry must be in the same condition as when you received it and in its original packaging (jewelry boxes/pouches). If you wish to return the jewelry, please contact us via email (info@goldenhourvintage.nl). You are responsible for the return shipment and any associated costs. Only the purchase price of the item itself will be refunded; shipping costs or other expenses incurred will not be reimbursed. The sender remains responsible for the product at all times until it has been received in good condition by Golden Hour Vintage. Products that have been resized or worn cannot be returned. Items must be returned in the same condition as they were when shipped. Jewelry that is damaged, worn, or soiled will not be accepted as a return. Our return address is:

99% of our orders are handed over to PostNL in accordance with our "ordered before 3:00 PM, shipped the same day" guarantee. Should we be unable to meet this deadline, we will contact you and give you the option to cancel the purchase. Within the Netherlands, the package is generally delivered the next day. For Belgium and Luxembourg, delivery takes 1–2 business days via UPS, FedEx, or DHL (though the package is, of course, still shipped on the same day if ordered before 3:00 PM).

Once we have registered the package with PostNL, we will send you the tracking code. Please note that it may take some time for the code to become active (on the PostNL website).
